You can stream to VRCLive with OBS Studio or VRCLive Studio. OBS is best when you need full scenes, plugins, and advanced audio mixing. VRCLive Studio is for Windows users who want a faster screen-to-stream workflow.
OBS Streaming
Use the official OBS Studio app, get a server and stream key from VRCLive, then start streaming with standard RTMP settings.
VRCLive currently supports two streaming paths: standard OBS Studio RTMP streaming, and the VRCLive Studio Windows client. When using VRCLive Studio, launch it from the installed shortcut, Start menu, or the fully extracted folder. Do not copy only VRCLive Studio.exe.

Stream with OBS Studio
Bitrate reminder: keep the OBS video bitrate below 6500 kbps. Streams above the limit may be disconnected automatically.
For stable playback, use Advanced Output Mode in OBS and set a fixed keyframe interval. The backend forwards the H.264 stream as-is, so unstable timestamps, dynamic bitrate, look-ahead, or too many B-frames can make RTSP playback stutter.
Step 1: Install and open OBS Studio
Download OBS Studio from the official website and install the latest stable version.
You can skip the auto-configuration wizard at first and adjust settings manually later.
Check that the preview and audio meters work before going live.
Step 2: Get stream information from VRCLive
Open the Live page, get a public stream key, and copy the server and stream key into OBS.
Step 3: Fill OBS stream settings
Open Settings -> Stream.
Select Custom... as the service.
Paste the VRCLive server address into Server.
Paste the VRCLive stream key into Stream Key.
Click Apply or OK.
Step 4: Add video and audio sources
Add a game capture, window capture, display capture, or media source in OBS.
If you need microphone audio, make sure the microphone device is enabled in the audio mixer.
If you need desktop audio, check that the desktop audio meter is moving.
Step 5: Start streaming and watch
Click Start Streaming in OBS.
For browser playback, use the web player link from the Live page.
For VRChat playback, use the Watch in VRChat (AVPro) link.
Use the OBS Custom Browser Dock Plugin
Plugin URL: https://vrclive.top/tools/obs_plugin.html. The dock connects to local OBS through OBS WebSocket, gets public VRCLive stream info, writes it into OBS, and starts streaming after you click the button.
Step 1: Add a custom browser dock
In OBS, open Docks -> Custom Browser Docks.
Name it VRCLive.
Use https://vrclive.top/tools/obs_plugin.html as the URL.
After confirming, OBS will show a dock with start and copy-link controls.
Step 2: Enable OBS WebSocket
Open Tools -> WebSocket Server Settings.
Enable the WebSocket server.
Keep the default port 4455.
Open connection information and copy the server password.
Step 3: Start from the dock
Click Start Streaming in the dock.
Enter the OBS WebSocket password the first time. It is stored in that dock's local storage for future use.
The plugin creates or switches to an OBS profile named vrclive.top, writes the stream settings, and starts output if OBS is not already streaming.
Quick Start with VRCLive Studio
Step 1: Download and launch VRCLive Studio
Install the package and launch it from the desktop shortcut or Start menu.
For quick testing, you can run VRCLive Studio.exe from the fully extracted folder.
Do not copy only the exe file. It depends on resources, ffmpeg, audio-helper, and av-helper in the same directory.
Step 2: Choose a streaming mode
For a fast start, enable automatic public stream key retrieval.
The app fills in the server address and stream key before streaming.
If you have your own RTMP endpoint, enter it manually in advanced settings.
Step 3: Choose video and audio
The current video source type is screen capture.
Select the monitor you want to capture. Refresh before streaming if your monitor list changes.
Audio can be disabled or set to desktop audio. Desktop audio is the common choice.
Step 4: Adjust settings and start
Start with 720p / 30 FPS / 2500 kbps unless you know your network is stable.
After clicking start, the status usually moves through Ready, Connecting, and Streaming.
Click stop to end the stream and return to ready state.
Recommended Settings
Resolution and FPS
Supported resolutions include 1280x720 and 1920x1080.
FPS can be set from 10 to 60.
Begin with 720p / 30 FPS, then increase after confirming stability.
Bitrate
VRCLive Studio supports 500 - 5000 kbps.
For OBS, a stable 1280x720 / 30 FPS stream is usually a good baseline.
If playback stutters, the connection drops, or the server limits the stream, lower the bitrate first.
Encoder
Supported options include NVIDIA NVENC, Intel QSV, AMD AMF, and CPU x264.
Prefer automatic detection or hardware H.264 encoding.
For smoother RTSP playback, use CBR, fixed keyframes, B-frames = 0, and disable look-ahead or dynamic bitrate features.
FAQ
Video works, but there is no sound
Make sure the audio source is set to desktop audio.
Confirm the system is actually playing sound and the default output device is correct.
If it still fails, open the debug panel and check the audio helper status.
Why can't I choose a microphone?
Separate microphone input control is not exposed in the current version. Streaming audio is focused on desktop system audio.
Why is window capture unavailable?
The current capture pipeline exposes screen capture only. Window capture, app-window capture, and camera capture are planned for later versions.
Streaming fails because of the RTMP URL
Make sure the server address starts with rtmp:// or rtmps://.
Remove extra spaces from the server address.
Make sure the stream key is complete and was retrieved successfully.
Known limits
VRCLive Studio currently supports Windows only.
Only screen capture is available right now.
Separate microphone input and per-application audio streaming are not supported yet.
The installer is not code-signed, so some systems may show a security prompt.
